A learning process

Got a yummy lunch today…this usually comes with rice pilaf but I got extra hummus instead.

Am still easing new foods into my diet.  Haven’t had much salad yet, but just a taste here and there.  I still have found nothing that Frankensleeve doesn’t “like”, so I guess that’s good.  I’m in a bit of a 2 week stall (will weigh in officially tomorrow) and am trying to figure out exercise and calories and how they relate to me now.  I’ve been walking, working out on my recumbent cross trainer and doing some light weights for my arms  I’m not gaining at all but not really losing.  I do know, however that this is normal but I wish I could figure out the right formula.  I know that will come in time though!  Bought a size “L” shirt yesterday for the first time in a long time, so definitely losing inches! 🙂

Was able to put on a shirt that’s always been too small!  It’s not exactly loose, but I don’t care! 🙂

1st Dinner out at Sammy’s since surgery

Sammy’s is one of my favorite places to eat.  But I suppose gone are the days of a fried shrimp po-boy with a big plate of onion rings or French fries! 🙂

Thankfully I love their grilled chicken and their sautéed shrimp!  These both come with salad, bread and baked (or stuffed) potato, so that poses a bit of an issue.  I need to eat the protein first, then if I get full on that, I stop.  If I’m still hungry I can go for the salad next.  The baked potato (not really fond of stuffed potatoes anyway) would be last and the bread a “no”.

Last night we went there since my brother and sister-in-law were in town and my brother loves either crawfish etoufee or boiled crawfish.  It was a fun evening and I ended up ordering the sautéed shrimp.  I had one piece (yes, only one piece) of lettuce, which tasted kind of funky to me, but it’s the first lettuce I’ve had since surgery. I ended up eating 4 shrimp and 1 bite of baked potato (I had put a little shredded cheese on top) and was satisfied!  I gave the bread to my brother. 🙂

Hanging in there

Weight seems to be stalling but clothes are getting looser so I need to just realize it’s not coming off as fast as it did at first.  I’m introducing new foods and so far nothing bothers Frankensleeve. I’m trying to be better about writing down every morsel that I eat so that I can see what’s going in!  I need to check with the nutritionist and see how many calories I should be consuming at this point.  I’ve been exercising a lot so I’m not sure how things are balancing out.

I ordered a pair of my fave jeans in size 14…..hopefully I’ll be in them soon! 🙂

Slow and Steady Wins the Race!

Weekly weight update:

Starting Weight – 1/6/15: 218

Current Weight – 3/10/15: 186

Total Loss –  32

Still going down and that’s the best news ever!  I was hoping that more exercise would burn more calories but I should know by now that even with a tiny stomach, weight loss is unpredictable! 🙂

Back to exercising!

I’ve been back exercising since Wednesday morning.  It feels good to do something else besides walk.  I’ve also been using my light weights to try and minimize the bat wings….that feels good too!  The scale’s not budged so far this week but we’ll see where it is tomorrow.  I’m still happy with my progress and the fact that my clothes are getting looser! 🙂

Another pair of jeans!

I have 3 pairs of size 16 jeans at my house.  A little over a week ago, I fit into the first pair (Lees…they had a much stretchier waistband) Today I got into the 2nd pair (Levis) that were a little too tight across my belly button last week (I have an incision scar there)  So Yay! 🙂

All kinds of good news!

I saw Dr. Taylor yesterday afternoon and found out:

  • he says I’m doing fantastic!
  • I can start exercising again on my recombent cross trainer!
  • I can take baths again!
  • My A1C (blood sugar) went from 7.1 (before surgery) to 6.2 (blood drawn last Friday)!!!  I’m very close to the “normal” range!
  • Cholesterol was normal
  • Blood pressure was normal
  • I don’t have to go back to see him for 3 more months
